Assumption or Truth
One of the things that our esteemed government like to tell us is that if we have more than one political power, then there will be political instability and that leads to our beloved ang mohs fleeing the little island in panic with their money and factories and leaving us begging on the streets. The following article I found from the papers appear to falsify this hypothesis............

Crisis? What crisis? Business should go on as usual
By CHUANG PECK MING
WHILE observers saw the bitterly contested presidential election recently in Mexico as polarising for the country, the new Mexican ambassador to Singapore says it was 'pretty normal' in a pluralistic democratic system - and business should go on as usual.
What was seen as a political crisis - with former Mexico City mayor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who lost by a small margin, refusing to recognise Felipe Calderon's win and threatening to lead protests and civil disobedience - Ambassador Juan Jose Gomez sees as healthy democracy in action.
And democracy, Mr Gomez says, is a key precondition for the business-friendly environment needed to attract foreign investment. 'It means a rule of law, which is most important for business. It means certainty, checks and balances.'
The numbers say it all - foreign direct investments have kept flowing in despite the 'political crisis', and they are set to hit a record of more than US$20 billion this year, Mr Gomez points out.
