Just received a message prompting me to update my blog. Well... not bad, at least I know that there are people out there reading it. That being said, I have not updated on my blog for so long because I am frequently brain dead by the time I get home from work. When you have to check and respond to so many emails a day, run around to meet clients and write so much paper, the last thing you want to do when you come home is to hammer on the keyboard to produce something intelligent. Yah, great excuse.. so which is why I finally pull myself back to the writing board.. I mean keyboard...
It is always interesting to follow the run up to the American election, not that it is terribly exciting as the same old issues are always been tossed around albeit been dressed differently, but because it never fails to amaze me that given the winner of the election would be The leader of the free world, there is always a consistent lack of quality in the candidates. One need not look further for a good example than the current president who if we are to believe all the internet jokes circulating around must be the stupidest person that has ever stepped into the Oval Office. it is hard to believe that the best that a country of 300 million plus people can throw out is an ape in a powersuit whose idea of international relations is to bludgeon everybody else with a big club.
It is interesting to note that the tomato-man Kerry doesn't seem very much better. Oh of course, he is not that stupid yet, Bush still holds the record, unless when Kerry gets elected he proceed to outdo Bush by for example by supporting Taiwan independence. The only thing that I know about Kerry is that 1) He is associated with Heinz tomato sauce and 2) He opposes Bush. *Yawn* For a challenger, of course you have to oppose the incumbent otherwise what on earth are you here for? But other than that, tomato-man seem idea-less, and worse by touting his war-hero image, it makes him not much different from self-declared "war president", our ape-man-who-wields-a-big-club.
Of course, the US is not the only country who showcases dubious leaders. There is also Taiwan, which since opening itself up for presidential elections has only put two ah beng and ah seng, who talk like the beer-drinking uncles at the kopitiam. One has to be constantly reminded when seeing them on TV that Ah Bian and Li Teng Hui are presidents and commander-in-chief for the Taiwanese military, for goodness sake. I wonder why no one in their Administration has ever saw the need to put them through an etiquette and public speaking class. Even some nameless spokesman from China has more poise than the Taiwanese presidents. What a far cry from the leaders of WWII like Roosevelt, Churchill and yes, even Hitler who though was a monster was undeniably one of the greatest orator and charismatic political leader of modern times.......
