I am improving. Today I have succeeded with packing my next few days with various appointments so that I won't be stuck rotting at home. Changed one of my appointment on wednesday from watching the Chinese movie "Enter the Phoenix" to simply meeting fren for coffee. Initially, I agreed to watching the movie because the title sounds not bad.. kinda "kewl" (as Ah Ron always like to say) but while looking up the time and venue for the movie online, I read the plot and was aghast that it is actually a very bo liao show.
So looks like the HK movie industry is back to square one again after the burst of creativity from Infernal Affairs. Back to slapstick or banal plots. Saw on the news just now that following the success of Infernal Affairs, HK is coming up with *gasp* yet another triad movie, which predictably is called "Jiang Hu". Alright, they got Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung, two very solid actors to star in the same movie and just as I thought that those sniplets they flash are quite kewl, I saw this hand to hand fighting in black suits scene in the rain in.... yes... you got it slow motion..... with raindrops splashing "spectacularly". Sounds familiar? If you haven't got it yet, you ought to hit yourself with a hammer on the head. It is right out from Matrix Revolutions. Well..... maybe I shouldn't complain... afterall, the whole world seems to be copying the Matrix-style fighting.. like the Heineken advertisement (before which I have always had good appraisal of their creativity), the Toshiba advertisement and a whole lot of other movies and spoofs....
Talking of which, I realised there arent any movies to look forward to for now. Afterall, all the Trilogies and epics have already ended by 2003. Not particularly, looking forward to Star Wars 3 which would be in what? 2005? But there is one sequel I really would like to see, that is Indiana Jones IV. Last, I know it is still in the making, if it is as good as the other 3, it would be worth the long wait. =)
